In engineering they call it the single source of truth. In the old ledgers it was called the entry. In Portuguese — página comum, the common page.
It is the same idea three hundred years apart: one place everyone looks at and sees the same thing. Everything we do serves to get there — the page where the company and whoever runs it read the same line.
